You know how crock pots in general and recipes labeled “one pot wonders” make life easier? What’s better than tossing food in a pot and letting the pan do the work? Now let’s take that same concept of simplicity and think not of your crock pot, but your blender. And this time you’re not making a warm stew but a cool smoothie filled with all the nutrients you need for excellent health.

Smoothies are a great way to combine a variety of foods and their nutrients. They are a quick option in a hurried morning because again – you simply throw everything in and let the appliance work it’s magic, and once complete you can pour in a travel mug and off you go. If you are vegan or vegetarian, chances are you may have already ponied up for a Vitamix, but if not most any garden variety blender will word for the two sample smoothie recipes below:

“Jeff’s Classic Vegetable Smoothie”

2 c .distilled water
1/2 yellow beet
1/2 organic cucumber
1/2 avocado with seed
1/2 Fuji apple with seeds
1/2 lime with pith
1 corn cut from the cob
2 fresh basil tops
1″ slice of ginger root

“Mind Power Smoothie”

1 1/2 c. distilled water
2 ears of fresh corn cut from the cob
1/4 c/ raw pumpkin seeds
2 oz. organic goji berries
1/2 lemon with pith & seeds
1/2 inch fresh ginger root
3 nodes of cilantro
10 dried cordyceps
