BERLIN — A 10-year-old Berlin Intermediate School student is on the road to recovery this week after suffering a broken leg and other injuries after colliding with a school bus while riding his bicycle in Berlin.
Shortly before 3 p.m. last Friday, the 10-year-old boy was riding his bicycle in the area of Flower Street in Berlin when he collided with a school bus. The school bus was not occupied at the time. The BIS student suffered significant injuries and was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
According to reliable sources, the child has been treated for a broken leg and other injuries and is in stable condition. Because of confidentiality laws regarding juveniles and reports on medical conditions, the extent of the victim’s injuries have not been made public. However, sources confirmed this week while the child was still in the hospital as of late Wednesday, he is reportedly on the mend and progressing.
The investigation into the cause of the collision was still ongoing this week. However, it appears from sources the school bus driver was not at fault and the incident was an unfortunate accident. No charges are pending in the case.
