If you’re anything like us, you crave Mexican food at least once a week. fivetimesaweek.  Fortunately, the greater Ocean City area has some really great restaurants that always deliver and satisfy our very strong cravings. #needamargarita

Mexican food is always hit or miss, we’ve all experienced bad Mexican food and it is THE worst. So this week we’ve rounded up some of our favorite Mexican restaurants that are sure to leave you feeling full and content.

La Hacienda

11033 Nicholas Lane, Berlin, MD 21811

If you’re looking for Tex Mex and some signature margaritas, LaHa’s is your place. LaHa’s new location is at the entrance of South Ocean Pines and we couldn’t be happier about the shorter commute. Although our high school memories on Thursday nights at the 82nd street location will never be forgotten, we sure do enjoy skipping the summer traffic during our quest for delicious queso. We suggest delving into a small queso before moving onto the Neptune Burrito. It’s massive, so pace yourself. The ultimate burrito comes stuffed with shrimp, crabmeat and ocean scallops sautéed with olive oil, garlic and onion and blended with three cheeses and baked under LaHa’s black bean sauce. Wash it all down with a LaHa Rita and call it a night.

Peppers Tavern

15th Street, Ocean City MD or in West Ocean City on Rt. 611

Another great Tex Mex option, Pepper’s is known for their great entertainment and local vibe each night at the boardwalk location. Local bands play almost every night, drawing in huge crowds as they order $4.99 happy hour quesadillas at the bar. The West Ocean City location is a little different but has its own appeal… breakfast. We know what you’re thinking, breakfast at a Mexican place? But trust us… you won’t be disappointed. The sausage & gravy on biscuits is mouthwateringly good and you can’t go wrong with their home-style pancakes, which are as big as the plate.

Plaza Tapatia

Ocean Pines, MD in the Food Lion Shopping Center

This is one of our favorite restaurants to head to after work. For pure, authentic Mexican food head over to Plaza for their white dip, chips and salsa immediately when you sit down and don’t forget to order one of their famous margaritas. Can you tell we really like margaritas?! With a 5-page menu filled to the brim with spectacular choices such as with tostadas, enchiladas, burritos, tacos, taquitos and more along copious amounts of hot sauce… we obviously can’t get enough.

Mother’s Cantina

28th Street Ocean City, MD

Just another local’s favorite…. We told you, we have a lot of great Mexican restaurants and Mother’s is no exception! With a great happy hour and weekly specials, you can’t overlook this hidden gem. Make sure you order the queso AND guacamole, trust us you won’t regret it. With great brews on tap and a captivating local atmosphere, Mother’s is easily one of our favorite hot spots. Vegetarians, you’re in luck because there are plenty of veggie-friendly options on the menu. The grilled portabella fajitas never disappoint.

Tequila Mockingbird

130th Street at Montego Bay Shopping Center

We came for the name and stayed for the Rocko Tacos…and the enchiladas, and the salsa, and the sizzling fajitas…you get the drift. For starters, Tequila Mockingbird serves up some of the best salsa in town. If you like chunky salsa, this is your spot. Salads, soups, tacos, fajitas, enchiladas – the options are seemingly endless here. For a lighter summer meal, go for the grilled tuna taco salad. And with a name like Tequila Mockingbird, it’s no surprise that their tequila menu is extensive.

So what are you waiting for… put on your sombrero and pick one, we’ll see you there!
