New Virtual Bus Pass Now Available In Ocean City
OCEAN CITY — Electronic Transaction Systems (ETS), a leader in Mobile Payment Technology and Integrated Payment Solutions, has announce that through its partnership with the Town of Ocean City, visitors and residents to the resort will now be able to use virtual passes to board and ride any Ocean City bus.
By using the PMoney Digital Wallet App, riders can now purchase and display a virtual bus pass without the need to carry exact change for the fare or the possibility of damaging or losing a paper pass.
“We are thrilled to work with Ocean City through both our mobile and traditional payment platforms,” said Ed Vaughan, CEO of Electronic Transaction Systems. “It is an exciting day for us as we launch our Virtual Bus Pass feature and we look forward to what the future holds for the application of our Digital Wallet throughout Ocean City.”
The process to purchase a Virtual Bus Pass is fast and simple. A rider can find the PMoney App in the Apple iTunes Store or on Google Play for Android phones. Once the app is downloaded, the customer then registers for a PMoney account and has access to all of the features of a fully functioning digital wallet, including the ability to “Pay for Transit”. Riders have access to the $1 single boarding pass or the $3 ride-all-day pass. The ride-all-day pass can be displayed and used an unlimited amount of times until the pass expires the following day.
The “Pay for Transit” feature of PMoney was developed specifically for the Town of Ocean City to provide a cost effective way for the town to accept payments other than cash without the expense of outfitting each bus with credit card terminals or other similar options. As of this week, Ocean City has the only transit system in the country to employ a fully operational virtual bus pass.
“Working with the town on this project was a great experience. All of the personnel that contributed to the development of the Pay for Transit feature were very excited that Ocean City would be on the cutting edge of the emerging mobile payments market,” said Mike Brittingham, Relationship Manager, Electronic Transaction Systems. “The possibilities with the PMoney Digital Wallet are endless and we look forward to working with the town on future projects.”
