OC Announces Beginning Of St. Louis Ave. Project’s 2nd Phase; Closures From 4th to 10th Streets Expected
OCEAN CITY — The Town of Ocean City’s Public Works Department will be beginning work on the second phase of the St. Louis Avenue water, sewer and roadway project on Monday, October 21. The project, which is scheduled to be completed by May 2014, will encompass 4th to 10th Street on St. Louis Avenue.
“Several tasks are involved in this project,” said Jim Parsons, Deputy Director of Public Works. “We will be completing replacement of existing St. Louis Avenue road base, installing underground conduit for new street lights and replacing sidewalk in those areas removed during construction.” In addition, new water and sewer mains will be installed.
In order to complete the project, the contractor will be closing St. Louis Avenue between 4th and 10th Streets as the job progresses to facilitate construction needs. Residents are asked to adhere to these restrictions as they occur. In addition, after the existing road surface is removed, the road surface will be stone only for a period of time while the contractor prepares for new asphalt paving.
George & Lynch, the contractor hired by the Town of Ocean City, will advise property owners during any short intervals of time when the sewer and/or water may be disconnected to allow new connections.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” Parsons continued. “We want our residents, visitors and property owners to be assured that we will work diligently to complete this project as soon as possible.”
