Friday, October 4

Becoming a Big Brother and Big Sister.” 6 – 7:30 p.m. $20 per family. Avery W. Hall Education Center CQI Room, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. This 90 minute class is well-suited for children three to six years old who will soon have a new baby in the home. The class addresses their important role as a big brother or sister, what to expect with a new baby in the house and safe interactions with baby.  The cost of the class is $20 per family. Newborn Care Class. 6 to 9 p.m. $40. Avery W. Hall Educational Center CQI Room, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. A must for first-time parents, this class reviews survival skills for the first six weeks home with baby. Topics include diapering, bathing, sleeping, calming a fussy baby and more. Better Breathers Club. 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Free. Avery W. Hall Education Center Auditorium, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. A monthly support group for adults who suffer from asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer and other respiratory problems. Friends and Family CPR Class. 4 to 7 p.m. $40. Avery W. Hall Educational Center Auditorium, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. This 3-hour non-certification course is designed for anyone who wants to learn CPR rescue skills but does not require a CPR course completion card. It will teach rescuers how to perform CPR on adults and children and how to help an adult or child who is choking.  To register and pay online, visit www.peninsula.org. Peripheral Artery Disease Screening. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free. Aboard the Wagner Wellness Van, in the Family Dollar parking lot at 12175 Elm Street, Princess Anne. The Guerrieri Heart & Vascular Institute at Peninsula Regional Medical Center sponsors free peripheral artery disease screenings for people 55 or older. The screening will be offered to individuals who exhibit at least three prominent risk factors or one symptom. Pre-registration is required. Learn how to combine the value of life experience with updated information on supporting new parents. This evidence-based class will help grandparents learn what is new about infant safety, car seats and how to form a great relationship with a new grandchild. Prepared Childbirth Class. 6-9 p.m. $75. Avery W. Hall Educational Center Auditorium, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. Meet other expectant parents at this interactive course that meets on four Tuesdays. It includes information about prenatal care, labor and delivery, post-partum care and infant safety. Classes should be taken during the sixth to eighth month of pregnancy. The fee is $75 for the mom to be and her coach. Pre-registration is required.
