Pumpkins Galore on the Eastern Shore
Who’s ready for some pumpkin patch fun?! We are! Fall is such a great season in that it provides family and friends many ways to reconnect with one another through a variety of wholesome outdoor activities. Luckily Maryland has quite a few places where you can take part in all of the festivities and we have the top picks listed out for you!
Family Affair Farm

The Family Affair Farm offers a corn maze, pumpkin patch-pick in the field, and tractor pulled hay rides. The farm is geared towards small children so bring them out to The Field of Fun which has numerous entertaining as well as educational activities including a milo maze. For older children there is a more advanced 3-acre corn maze instead. They also have picnic stations however they require that you bring your own food. This is a popular place for birthday parties and school tours.
Adkins Farmers Market

This isn’t your typical farmers market. Enjoy a U-Pick Pumpkin patch along with ones already picked from the field, 7 acre Corn Maze, pre-picked produce, snacks accompanied by a refreshment stand, picnic area, straw, Corn Fodder, and mums galore! There are over eighty varieties of gourds, squash, and pumpkins available. Not to mention there is plenty for kids to do as well! Their play area includes several mazes, climbs, tunnels, games, and an awesome super slide. Weekends in October also include a hayride upon every hour.
Mr. Peppers Pumpkin Patch

All activities at Mr. Pepper’s Pumpkin Farm are fun for the whole family. The farm has over a dozen of varieties of pumpkins in various shapes and textures just waiting to be picked by the right person! You can participate in a hayride as well as a stellar two-acre corn maze and bees in a glass-walled bee hive. There is also plenty to eat here with a BBQ Shack right at your disposal on Saturdays and Sundays for lunch. Then on top of that, take home plenty of mums and other fall produce from their stand to decorate your home with.
Breckinridge Adventures

This is one place you will have to make a day of for sure. Breckinridge is known for their giant corn mazes but also have other activities for the family to enjoy such as a 1-acre U-pick pumpkin patch, a corn cannon, pumpkins as well as face painting, stuff a scarecrow area, and even paintball! Their children’s play area includes a corn bin, apple chunk, duck races, jungle gym, saddle swings, and so much more. Before heading home visit their store to get fresh local produce (seasonal), pre-picked pumpkins along with gourds, concessions with refreshments, crafts made by local artisans, and other fall decorations.
Fifer Orchards

You can also head over to Fifer Orchards for all of your pumpkin needs as well. Make your way through their pumpkin patch and pick the perfect one to take home and carve. Then hit up the hay ride, 6-acre corn maze, zip line, straw castle, corn cribs, straw slides, and more! They recommend that guests bring their own folding wagon for easy pumpkin and goodie transport during the day because you better believe you won’t leave their empty handed.
As a tip before we send you out for some pumpkin picking fun, always look for damage! Soft spots, bruises, and scars on a pumpkin can all be signs that they are spoiled meaning that it will decay quite a bit faster after carving. We found that when pumpkins sit upright they are the best and also make sure the stem is attached so that you have a handle for better gripping.
